NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair
During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.
Dominant Performance Wins Game
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards throughout the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion rather than sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach stated following the contest.
