Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.

The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
